  2. Just wanted to share a quick, cheap way to store cards from /r/netrunner – all you need is the Core box and your cards!

    I do basically the same as you mentioned on the show with a combo of boxes and separators (by faction). My own ineptness couldn’t figure out how to get the fancy side up, but it works great! Finally gives me a use for those x3 copies of IDs.

    A thought on netdecking: a lot of people have a “tinker” way of thinking. I work really well starting with a pre-existing model of something. I then experiment/tinker /modify that model to make it my own. I tend to hate starting from scratch, but love modifying things to my own taste. Soon enough my deck is way different from what I originally started with.

  3. Thanks, guys; another great episode.

    Glen, you may find that Sunset will find a little more utility when Creation and Control comes out. It can help against Rielle (keeping your code gates out front to nullify her ability), and it can be a way to recover a little bit after getting hit by Escher.

    It could also help to slow down Caissa decks because of the movement rules. If a Pawn is close to being promoted, you could move it to the outside with Sunset, or move a Rook to the outside if the server it’s on has more ICE than your other servers to prevent it from moving across. You can also position a piece of ICE that you don’t want Knight to move to right before or behind the current piece of ICE it’s on, in the case you have 4+ ICE on a server. In comparison, Midori would trash the Caissa when it swaps the ICE out, but this can only happen if the Runner approaches the ICE, and it means you need to rez the new piece of ICE as well.

    In summary, I don’t think Sunset is terrible, and I think its utility will only grow. It may remain an underdog, but I think it’ll enable some interesting plays in the future.

    • As usual Skiesbleed, I can tell you’re going to suck at Caissa. I hope I never meet you across a tournament table. Excellent points – it’s interesting how so many underused cards have a definitive place as the collection continues. Which of course, they should.

      The Sure Gamble/Pre-paid VoicePAD is a really obvious example.

  4. Hey guys! Great podcast. Keep up the good work.

    And keep reading the cards. Fuck those guys that say “We can all read! We all know what the cards do!” because new players who might not be familiar with the card or it’s effects or maybe they haven’t picked up the expansion or they haven’t read the FFG teaser for the cards.

    • I’m going to second that! More than once your discussion of a card I’m already familiar with has allowed me to think about it in a new way. Guess what…that involves reading it!

      • Thanks for writing Mad & Johnald. Hopefully, in this latest ‘cast, Glen and I found a happy medium. Sometimes it’s essential to read the exact phrasing of a card (ie. Matrix Analyzer! :)), and sometimes its function alone is ok.

        Good to know there’s split opinions!

    • I completely agree – I think you guys have taken what seemed to be a troll comment far too seriously. I’m a nerd and like hearing you talk about the cards in detail. This podcast was too short for me if anything. Keep up the good work.

    • I second that as well. I am a very casual player and listen to you in the car because I have no time to read everything there is on the net. Most of what you say would make no sense to me if you don’t give some reference.

  5. Thank you for another great podcast. I am from Spain. Here we have waited for a long long time for the cards in spanish. Obviously, I don’t have problems with english if I listen to english podcasts but I waited for the cards to be translated. This is due to the fact that it makes me easier to convince my friends to start playing the game.
    We are getting a lot of cards now as FFG wants to give us access to the same cards you have, so that we have the same odds at the worlds. We are not getting the cards at the same pace as you and maybe the metagame here is not as the one you have. I’ll try to give you info about what we play over here, winner decklists and so on if I can.
    The first tournaments are coming soon and I am already looking towards Madrid’s regional which will have 40 players at most. I used to be a Magic player and once participated in a 2220 player tournament (biggest in history of ccg) so this seems like a very low amount of players to me. Bilbao’s regional has already got it’s 60 players registered so maybe there are more netrunner fans over there.
    I play netrunner with some friends and we all hope there will be more tournaments and netrunner fans thanks to awesome people like you guys. Thanks a lot.

    • Thanks for writing in Eglerian. I’m surprised the spanish cards lag so far behind the english releases – spanish is the 2nd or 3rd most spoken language in the world! Good on you for keeping up with the latest though – sometimes I feel cheated when I can’t get cards for a couple of weeks after release.

      Good luck at the tournament. Netrunner will never have the numbers that Magic does, but popularity isn’t always equivalent to quality.

      • Sorry Bob – I had to remove 1/2 of the episodes because of bandwidth use, and I chose the oldest (1-6). Episode 6 won’t be back online for another month at least. 😦 Sorry eh.
